33/365 : what if gray were actually purple?

would we stay longer
in the royal mix of madness?
not be so quick to slice to black or white?

oh, defining mind
clasping claws
hungry fear, always needing to know

do you not remember
the days of fire
burning wild on distant horizons
while your sky was full of
heavy indecision?

there were years when thick fog filled your mind
and you could not find
an ounce of love in your reason

but you know better now--
enduring pulse,
able bones, strong hold
at the edge of mystery

you know color
is never exactly what it seems
